In 2020, we are celebrating 10 years of partnership with the International Becoming an Outdoors Woman program. Since 2010, Green Edventures Tours has helped women’s wildlife and adventure travel dreams come true in partnership with BOW.

Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) and International Becoming an Outdoors Woman was founded to help women learn outdoor skills in a non-competitive learning environment. A workshop in the early 90s was held to identify the barriers keep women from participating in outdoor activities. What was discovered was that many women didn’t know how to ______ in the outdoors.  Born from this first workshop was to become a very successful program helping women in North America connect with the outdoors and each other. BOW Founder Christine Thomas says, “What I didn’t understand was that we were going to change their lives along the way—and that our lives would change as well.”

International Becoming an Outdoors Woman programs follow a different format but embrace the same philosophy of empowering women through outdoor education and helping them experience places they wouldn’t know how to access on their own. The trips offered through the Becoming an Outdoors Woman program are designed to introduce women to wild off-the-beaten-path places with extraordinary wildlife encounters.

Becoming an Outdoors Woman Workshops are created for the beginner, but women with all skills and backgrounds are welcome. Today workshops are held in the United States and Canada.  You can learn all about the Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program in this article written published in Ducks Unlimited Magazine this month. You can also find out which workshops are near you by visiting the Becoming an Outdoors Woman website.
