What our adventurers say about the Iceland Women’s West Fjords Lopapeysa Knitting Tour

  • Avatar Cindy Lohrentz
September 2025 Knitting Iceland tour with Tara, Inga and Bergros was fantastic! Organized with delicious food and comfortable lodgings in spectacular locations in the Westfjords. Inga and Bergros generously … More shared their culture, knowledge and love of Iceland which was the richest part of the trip for me. Bergros is a top notch designer and creative artist but also a literary historian, nature lover and patient teacher. Inga was a ball of energy, joy and also generous with her personal stories that made us love not just the landscape but the incredible people who come from it. I felt safe and cared about the entire time. The knitting was fantastic and the group open for adventure. Easily one of the best trips of my life.

My first experience traveling alone could not have gone smoother. Green Edventures offered a woman-focused great experience: wonderful foods, great sites, friendly and safe, educational and inspiring. … More I am not well-traveled, but I definitely picked the best place to have a first-time experience that left me wanting to travel again. Iceland felt safe. The pace is relaxed. While Reykjavik is definitely the "hot spot" for many tourists, I would challenge people to consider time to explore. The Westfjords was my trip destination and although getting there was time consuming, there was so much to see along the way. I would book another trip with Green Edventures and/or return to Iceland again. Wonderful trip!!

F.A.Q.

I have more questions. Who can I talk to?

Call or email us! A real person will answer the phone (or call you back).
(888) 622-4911
info@greenedventures.com

How much knitting experience do I need to have?

Like all of our tours, the group dynamic is supportive and non-competitive. Beginners to advanced knitters are welcome on this knitting tour. If you know how to do the basic garter and purl stitches, as well as casting on you can begin the project. Beginners should keep their expectations low and focus on learning instead of producing a perfect doll-size lopapeysa. Beginners may end up knitting a scarf and that is ok, too! Advanced knitters will likely learn something new along the way including how to read a chart and color work.

What is the average age of the participants?

The average age range of participants is 55-70+ years. Our groups tend to be multi-generational, so there may be participants ranging from their 30s to their 70s. This trip is open to any woman who is healthy, active, and resonates with the itinerary.

Do women travel solo or with friends?

Both! There is usually a 60/40 split between solo travelers and those traveling with friends. By day 3, we all become good friends, and it’s hard to tell who is solo and who isn’t.

I am a solo traveler. Do I get charged more for a single room?

No. Solo travelers are paired with other solo travelers. There are no forced single supplements.  You may be able to upgrade to a single room based on availability.

Do I need any vaccinations?

None are required, currently.

What happens after I sign up?

You will receive an automatic email confirmation indicating your deposit was received. Within 24-48 hours, someone from Green Edventures will follow up with a personal email welcoming you to the trip! We are excited to meet you.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! Pay a small deposit to secure your spot. Then, pay the balance in interest-free installments using a credit card or checking account. There is no bank transaction fees when you use your checking account. If you want the convenience of using a credit card, the bank will charge 3%. You can switch between two payment options at any time.

What is the cutoff date to confirm the trip?

The trip will need critical mass within 90 days of departure. In the unlikely event we don’t reach this minimum, a full refund will be issued.

Is airfare included in the price?

The package price covers land fees only. Participants need to book their own flights to Iceland. We can offer guidance, and once we have confirmed the tour, we will provide travel parameters for booking your flight.

Why aren't lunches and dinners included?

In Iceland, it’s easy to order your own meals at restaurants, and it gives participants more flexibility, especially for those with food restrictions. We sit at the same table and order separate meals, making payment easy at the end. Participants enjoy this approach.

Where do we stay?

We stay 3-star hotels throughout the tour.  All rooms are double occupancy with two beds, and ensuite bathrooms. Download the brochure for details on specific locations and dates.
