Supporting Animal Sanctuaries & Conservation Efforts
On our Roatán Snorkeling & SCUBA Eco Tour, participants assist the Roatán Institute of Marine Science in coral reef restoration. Travelers prepare and attach coral fragments to “coral trees,” actively contributing to the regeneration of vital marine ecosystems. This hands-on experience not only supports marine life but also educates travelers on the importance of preserving our oceans.
Reducing Carbon Footprints Through Group Travel
At Green Edventures, we take sustainable travel seriously—including minimizing our carbon footprint. Traveling as a small women travel group reduces emissions by sharing transportation, lodging, and activities, compared with solo or mass-market travel. We also encourage carbon offsetting for air travel and other unavoidable emissions, helping travelers mitigate their environmental impact. Tourism contributes roughly 8% of global carbon emissions, and a single long-haul flight can produce over a quarter of an average person’s annual carbon output.
During the booking process, participants can choose to contribute to offset projects through partners like Sustainable Travel International, who support initiatives that protect forests and biodiversity, fund clean energy, safeguard coastal blue carbon ecosystems, and benefit local communities through job creation, health improvements, and conservation efforts. Choosing eco travel with Green Edventures means you’re not just exploring incredible destinations—you’re also making a measurable positive impact on the planet and the communities you visit.
Giving Wings to Education: The Birds of a Feather Fundraiser
One of the most inspiring projects connected to Green Edventures is the Birds of a Feather Fundraiser, led by Lori Anderson. Birds of a Feather is a nonprofit founded by Green Edventure’s friend and local guide, Paul Tamwenya, in Nangaiza, Uganda, to help children orphaned or otherwise vulnerable. Its mission is to provide education, health, and basic welfare support, by covering school fees, uniforms, supplies, and more. This program gives children in Nangaiza a better chance at a sustainable, empowered future.
This initiative bridges travel and purpose by supporting education for children in Uganda through donations and community-driven campaigns. Backpacks, shirts, suitcases, school supplies and more have been donated by our participants heading to Africa with us. Green Edventures’ mission to connect travelers to meaningful global experiences is perfectly paired with Birds of a Feather as they transform adventure into opportunity. Every tour we host with Paul, we are helping fund school supplies, scholarships, and brighter futures for students who need them most. And Lori is just getting started; A new U.S. based non-profit is in the works to better help the Birds of a Feather program!
