On our retreat in Iceland…

Imagine this, Each morning, you wake up with one purpose: to focus on yourself and your wellbeing.
During this retreat in Iceland, you’re surrounded by like-minded women — adventurous, kind-hearted souls — supported by caring guides and Icelandic wellness professionals who help you reconnect with what you need most.

You begin your day soaking in warm, mineral-rich waters, heated by the earth’s living mantle — standing where new earth is being created beneath your feet. You feel that ancient energy rising through the water, restoring something long-neglected inside you.

For too long, you’ve burned the candle at both ends.
Now, under the nurturing care of Icelandic healers, you are invited to listen. Through meditation, body scanning, and deep relaxation, you begin to understand what your body — and your soul — have been trying to tell you.

You notice something beautiful happening:
Patterns in numbers, animal sightings, and words seem to call to you. Is the universe speaking?
You capture it all in your custom retreat journal — your own spellbook of insights, observations, dreams, and rune readings — weaving together your personal story of transformation.

At night, you step outside and gaze up at the wide Arctic sky, watching brilliant green, pink, and violet ribbons of northern lights swirl just for you.

And for the bravest moments, you dare to experience the Icelandic way: swimming in the Arctic Sea. As you walk toward the shoreline side-by-side with your new soul sisters, you know you are not alone — and that you can trust your breath and your strength, both built over the days before.

This is more than a tour, it’s a retreat in Iceland.
It’s your journey of restoration, spiritual adventure, and transformation — guided by the living energy of Iceland itself.

Self care is not a reward, it’s a priority. You deserve this. Join us on this life-changing women’s wellness retreat in Iceland.

Itinerary

Day 1: Reflection & Clarity

Iceland-Hot-Spring-beautiful-view

Flights arrive at Keflavik International Airport. Your guide will be waiting for you at 8:00am. From here the adventure begins! ***

Just as water can reflect the surrounding environment, grounding mindfulness can help you reflect on your thoughts and feelings, and bring clarity to your inner state. Water provides a rich sensory experience. When you focus on the sensation of water, whether it’s touching, hearing, or observing it, you can anchor your mindfulness in the present moment, which is a core aspect of grounding.

Morning: We have a group session in Reykjavik with Svava Brooks. Svava is a Reiki Master, Meditations and & Trauma Recovery Specialist.  Svava will teach us methods for grounding ourselves, and give insight on how we can heal our bodies from within.  She will help us set the ground rules and intensions for creating our safe space throughout the tour.

Afternoon: We drive out of town to the beautiful fjord of Hvalfjörður for our first hot springs experience. Here, where the mountains hug the sea, you can practice your grounding skills and sensory awareness while soaking in the different temperature pools.

Overnight near Borgarnes at Country Hotel Hraunsnef or similar.  Enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel.

Meals: BD

*** Participants may want to come in a day early to acclimate before the start of the tour. Details will be provided including pick up time from the rendezvous hotel.

Day 2: Breath & Blessings

The rhythmic and repetitive nature of waves and tides at the sea can serve as an anchor for grounding techniques. You can synchronize your breath or movements with natural rhythms of the sea to enhance your mindfulness practice.

Morning: Experience the local culture at the Blondös community pool. The pool has a sauna, hot tubs, and a cold plunge, that is colder than the sea! Inga will teach you breathing techniques to help you relax and embrace cold water. These techniques will get you ready for your swim on the beach in the Arctic Ocean.

Lunch stop on the way to Spákonuarfur, at The Museum of Prophecies, about Þórdísi, a woman who was a fortune teller from the 10th century that lived at Skagaströnd. She moved to Skagaströnd to get away from people and wasn’t averse to using the dark arts to keep locals away from her prime grazing land.  We will learn about her life and get our own personal 5 minute readings told in the old Icelandic way.

Late Afternoon: We will stroll along the shore of the arctic ocean on a beautiful wild beach. While the tide laps against the black sand, participants will practice heart connection and breathing techniques and that have positive effects on the mind, body, and spirit.

Overnight and dinner at Sigló Hótel.

Meals: B

Day 5: Transition & Transformation

Achieving balance in life involves periods of transition and transformation, during which people can reassess their priorities, and make adjustments for greater equilibrium.

Morning: Soak in the hot tubs surrounded by white mountains and colorful buildings. Then our guide will take us on a walking tour of this charming coastal town of Siglufjörður. She will teach us about its old herring history, the museum, harbor and beautiful old houses.

Afternoon: Floatation therapy in one of the first pulblic swimming pools in Iceland. A floatation therapist will put floats on your legs and head and help you get into a relaxing horizontal position. Then, she will cover your eyes with a weighted mask, and your body with a blanket. Feeling weightless, and covering the eyes reduces the work load of the brain. You will float like a feather in warm water and with cool mountain air will fill your lungs. Your therapist will manipulate your body with water and gentle movements. that stretch your back and muscles, but also stimulates a meditative state.

Overnight at Sigló Hótel. Dinner in town.

Meals: B

Day 6: Light & Love

Increased light, whether it be literal or metaphorical, can illuminate and enhance positive emotions, foster connections, and create a sense of warmth, all which nourish the ecosystem for love to thrive.

Morning:

Heart Flame Meditation followed by a discussion about ways that more light can bring more love into our lives.

Drive along the coastal towns of the longest fjord of the north, Eyjafjördur. We will stop in the small town of Hauganes and take a soak into the hot tubs at the black beach. For those who up for it, we can take a dip or swim in the arctic sea.

Hauganes has the only accessible sandy-beach in North Iceland that faces the sun in the south. Because it is very shallow far out, the black sand heats the ocean on sunny days so the Atlantic ocean even feels comfortable. There are hot tubs with geothermal water from the village. It is a magical place to relax whether on sunny days in June, or cold winter days, listening to the ocean and the birds and enjoying the magnificent ocean and mountain view.

Afternoon: After feeling relaxed and rejuvenated from the hot tubs and swimming in the sea, we head toward our hotel in Akureyri.

Overnight: Overnight at hotel near Eyjafjörður (TBA) two nights.

Meals: B

Day 7: Resonate & Rise

Everything in the universe has its own vibration frequency. Earth and its natural phenomenon are part of a larger cosmic tapestry, where energy and vibrations play a fundamental role in the functioning of the universe.

Sound healing aims to create harmony with respect to the body’s energy centers (chakras) through balance and alignment.

Morning: Drive to Akureyri countryside for our final experience of the retreat, spending 2-hours healing our feminine goddesses during a sound bathing session.

After settling comfortably on a soft mattress with a warm blanket over her, each goddess receives a light head massage with pure organic essential oils.

Guided deep relaxation Yoga Nidra takes place under the guidance of a certified instructor. Gongs, singing bowls, and other instruments are used during the session. Each woman’s journey will be unique to her dreams, vision, and spiritual connection to the cosmos.

The sound bathing tones can have a healing sound effect and release stress and tension in the body and strengthen the central nervous system.

After relaxation, the goddesses have a hot tub, a wood-burning sauna and a spacious room for socializing and light lunch.

Afternoon: Enjoy the relaxing and rejuvenating qualities of a beer spa. In two-person tubs, participants will soak and indulge in hops for a 25 min bath.

Participants will be able to continue their relaxing experience in the infra red sauna or by soaking in the outdoor hot tub looking out at beautiful arctic fjord.

Evening: Dinner in Aukureyri. Overnight at hotel near Eyjafjörður (Hotel Natur or similar).

This trip was a highlight of my entire life! I was hoping for a Mindfulness-based peaceful journey and a few hot springs. What I got was a life-changing experience! Nine women traveling From Reykjavík the entire way to Akureyri having laughs, conversation, journaling, learning about Iceland, And a hot … More spring/hot tub every single day for 10 days! We even got into the Arctic ocean after learning how to breathe and how to do it from our Icelandic guide, Inga. Inga and the company owner, Tara, created my perfect trip! I've been dreaming of going there for many years and it far exceeded my expectations. I made some friends with whom I know I will stay in touch. This country is the most scenic, beautiful landscape I've ever seen. The people are friendly, the cities and country are very clean, the water taste better than any water you can get anywhere else, and they even have gas station ice cream that beats anything I get in an ice cream shop here! I realize my review sounds effusive, But this trip is a treasure. I definitely plan to go on more trips with Green Edventures in the future. ~Peace Kathy Groft

Tara Short and Ingabörg Guðjónsdóttir have created a well thought out trip to recharge your mind and soul. We visited many unique hot springs and pools. Each day was an adventure learning about natural energy flow, breathing techniques, and meditation practices. We experienced a sound bath in a yurt, … More which was amazing! I even took a dip in the Artic Ocean, which was exhilarating. Ingabörd shared a lot of the hidden gems and historical places that you wouldn't experience on any other tours. The best part of this small group trip was meeting like minded people and witnessing everyone's transformation to their best self. Looking forward to using Green Edventures for future trips.

The Iceland Hot Springs and Mindfulness Retreat spoke to me as soon as the itinerary was posted on the Green Edventures website. The promise of soaking in geothermal pools, learning new mindfulness techniques, and the hope of seeing northern lights convinced me to sign up. But in the end, the trip left … More me with so much more. This was my fourth trip as a solo traveler with Green Edventures. As with the other trips, the trip leader and our local guide took such good care of us. Tara Short’s positive energy and authentic concern for each individual made everyone in the group feel special. Ingibjörg Gudjonsdottir’s guiding experience, knowledge, and love for her home country was evident as she relayed history, folklore, and personal stories throughout the journey. Their deep friendship and natural playfulness kept us laughing. Together, they opened our hearts and minds to Iceland. Each day was a new “edventure.” Tara and Inga ensured we were well prepared in terms of what to wear, what to have in our day packs, and what to expect as we traveled to the next location. We walked on black sand beaches, snowshoed among birch trees and conifers, explored colorful towns, learned about Icelandic sagas and folklore, and enjoyed a local brewery. Viewing stunning fjords and waterfalls, stopping to photograph Icelandic horses, visiting a turf church, and hiking through lava fields are just a few more highlights. Did I mention the delicious food and comfy cozy hotels? Each day was unique and completely amazing. The geothermal heated spas, pools, and lagoons facilitated a soul-deep relaxation I’ve not experienced before. Floating in the steamy waters with snow flakes falling on my face is an experience I won’t soon forget. On the other hand, Inga’s guidance and breathing techniques allowed me to literally take the plunge in to the Arctic Ocean (3° C/38° F). The word “exhilarating” only just begins to describe how I felt. It was an emotional high.Prior to the trip, I had explored meditation and mindfulness mostly via online apps. The in-person guided sessions with Svava Brooks and Olof Atladottir, as well as meditations lead by Tara and yoga flow with Inga, provided a deeper understanding and connection I had yet to achieve on my own. Sharing the experience with 12 other women made it very special and made meditation something that I want to continue to explore. It gave me an awareness of a much larger universe in which the northern lights will always shine bright.Bless Ísland (Goodbye Iceland). I hope to return one day, but until then, you will remain in my heart.

F.A.Q.

I have more questions. Who can I talk to?

Call or email us! A real person will answer the phone (or call you back).

info@greenedventures.com

What is the average age of the participants?

The average age range is 45-65 years. Our groups tend to be multi-generational, so there may be participants ranging from their 30s to their 70s. This trip is open to any woman who is healthy, active, and resonates with the itinerary.

Do women travel solo or with friends?

Both! There is usually a 60/40 split between solo travelers and those traveling with friends. By day 3, we all become good friends, and it’s hard to tell who is solo and who isn’t.

I am a solo traveler. Do I get charged more for a single room?

No. Solo travelers are paired with other solo travelers. There are no forced single supplements. If you want to upgrade to your own room, you add that to your package when you book.

Do I need any vaccinations?

None are required currently.

What happens after I sign up?

You will receive an automatic email confirmation indicating your deposit was received. Within 24-48 hours, someone from Green Edventures will follow up with a personal email welcoming you to the trip! We are excited to meet you.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! Pay a small deposit to secure your spot. Then, pay the balance in interest-free installments using a credit card or checking account. There is no bank transaction fees when you use your checking account. If you want the convenience of using a credit card, the bank will charge 3%. Specific instructions for booking your airport transfer will be provided in your trip confirmation letter. Group return airport transfer on the last day is included. Airport transfer on day 1 is not included, giving participants flexibility in booking a flight that suits them.

Why aren’t most meals included?

In Iceland, it’s easy to order your own meals, and it gives participants more flexibility, especially for those with food restrictions. We sit at the same table and order separate meals, making payment easy at the end. Participants enjoy this approach.
