Itinerary
Day 1: Group Flight Keflavik, Iceland to Kulusuk, Greenland

Arrive at Keflavík International Airport (KEF) by 1:00 PM or come the night before for a relaxed start. If time allows, visit the Blue Lagoon or stroll the seaside village of Keflavík before meeting for your evening flight.
Meet your tour leader at Keflavik Airport in Iceland for a 5:30 PM departure to Kulusuk — a 1 hour 45 minute journey from volcanic Iceland to the wild coast of East Greenland.
Kulusuk is situated on an island surrounded in three directions by other islands and mountain peaks. The name Kulusuk means Chest of a black Guillemot. It is home to about 250 people, many of them hunters and fishermen.
Our guide greets the group at the airstrip. After luggage is loaded on a quad trailer, walk about 30 minutes to the village and settle into a comfortable local hotel.
Overnight: Hotel in Kulusuk for two nights (double occupancy)
Meals: Dinner
Day 2: Walk in Kulusuk & Hike to DYE 4
Morning: After breakfast, set out on a guided walking tour through the colorful village of Kulusuk. Wander between traditional houses, meeting locals, including husky puppies, who continue to live close to the rhythms of the Arctic. From there, begin a scenic day hike to DYE 4, a former U.S. radar station perched high above the fjord with sweeping views of icebergs drifting through the North Atlantic. Along the way, you’ll learn about the history that shaped this region and how the landscape itself tells stories of change and resilience.
In the afternoon, enjoy a private visit to a remarkable local museum collection, where an Inuit family has preserved artifacts, textiles, and photographs documenting generations of life in East Greenland. Through personal stories, you’ll gain insight into how traditions like kayak building, hunting, and sewing have adapted through decades of rapid cultural transformation — a rare and intimate window into Greenland’s living heritage.
Overnight and dinner at Hotel Kulusuk. (BLD)
Day 3: Massive Glaciers & WWII Relics

Morning: Departure by boat for an 8 hours adventure on the water between islands and giant peaks towards Karale Fjord. We pass in front of Karale Glacier and Knud Rasmundsen Glaciers where we will have picnic lunch on the boat while we wait to observe the calving of the icebergs crashing into the ocean, and looking out for wildlife such as whales, seals, and seabirds.
Afternoon: On the way back we will visit the US second world war military base in the Ikateq area, also known as “Bluie East Two.” The US military used this side to refuel planes that were being ferried across the North Atlantic to England. Today we can roam around through the ruins and admire the surealistic rusty vehicles.
In the late afternoon we arrive at Tiniteqilaq, a tiny hunters village with about 100 inhabitants, standing at the Sermilk fjord (Icefjord). The Sermilik Fjord has one of the most productive glacier systems in the world, moving over 30 meters per day and constantly calving enourmous icebergs.
We take a walk in the village. After admiring some of the glacier calving ice we continue on to our accommodations in an Inuit Village for two nights.*
Overnight in Tinnet.
Dinner prepared by your guide with some help from the guests. (BLD)
Day 4: Sermilik Fjord Day Hike

After a tasty breakfast, we take a walk to the surrounding hills 3-4 hours, and enjoy being unplugged. Nothing will disturb our peace except an occasional crack in the Icebergs in the fjord or possibly the blasts of gigantic humpback whales, which often migrate directly into the bay depending on the ice conditions.
We will tell stories of explorers and the life of the locals as it used to be. If we are lucky we might spot an arctic fox or some snow buntings on land and a curious bearded or ringed seal swimming at a safe distance. Overnight and dinner in a real Inuit village.(BLD)
Day 5: From Kulusuk to Tasiilaq: The Heart of East Greenland
This morning, travel by boat between islands and glaciers to reach Tasiilaq, the capital of East Greenland — a vibrant village surrounded by towering peaks and shimmering fjords. Upon arrival, check into your cozy hotel, where panoramic views of the fjord stretch from every window.
After settling in, head out on a guided walk through town to explore Tasiilaq’s blend of old and new. Visit a souvenir shop and artist workshop to learn about tupilaks — small, intricately carved figures traditionally made by Inuit shamans to ward off evil spirits or channel protective power. Today, they’re one of Greenland’s most iconic art forms, and you’ll have the opportunity to meet local artists and purchase your own handcrafted piece.
Return to the hotel in the evening to unwind. Enjoy the warmth of the sauna (available for a small fee) or simply relax, soaking in the quiet beauty of the fjord as the Arctic light transforms into midnight sun.
Overnight and dinner at Hotel Ammasalik.(BLD)
Day 6: Tasiilaq Drum Dancer & Hike to Flower Valley

Morning: After breakfast we will hike to a hill overlooking the fjord. Then relax on by wildflowers and experience one of Greenland’s oldest and most powerful cultural traditions — Inuit drum dancing. Accompanied by a single hand drum made from stretched animal hide, the performer sings and moves in a rhythmic storytelling ritual once used to celebrate, entertain, or resolve conflicts within the community. Each song is deeply personal, often passed down through generations.
Continue to another community museum, where artifacts, tools, and photos preserved by local residents tell stories of daily life in this remote Arctic world. Step inside a reconstructed Inuit summer turf house, built from stone and sod, and imagine what it felt like to live here not so long ago — close to nature, family, and the elements.
Afternoon: Enjoy packed lunches in the Greenlandic nature. Then stretch our legs on a beautiful trail. We walk along a lake to the Flower Valley where we can see several arctic plants in bloom including the national flower Arctic River Beauty, Arctic Thyme, Arctic Bluebell, Arctic Dandelion, and many others. We will continue the small curved path along the river, until we will reach a small waterfall. Here we will stop for a while and enjoy the beautiful landscape and quietness, before heading back to Tasiilaq . 5-6 hours walk.
Overnight and dinner at Hotel Ammasalik (BLD)
Day 7: Apusiaajik Island Ice Cave & Flight to Iceland

Morning: we will go for a glacier hike and visit a breath-taking ice cave hidden in a remote glacier. The whole trip will take around 4-5 hours and starts with a beautiful boat ride to the glacier, and includes a picnic lunch.
While we make our way over the ocean, we will have the chance to see beautiful fjords, mountain ranges and ice bergs and maybe even witness some of Greenland’s spectacular wildlife! If we are lucky, we might stumble across humpback whales, fin whales, seals or even orcas along the way.
Once our local boat driver drops us off, your guide will introduce you to your safety equipment. This includes helmets and crampons.
The view on the glacier is spectacular and during the easy 30-minute walk it takes to reach the ice cave you will have plenty of time to explore its amazing features like moulins and crevasses.
Once at the cave you will have more than enough time to lose yourself in this surreal world of blue and take in all of its incredible details. On this once in a life-time experience, enjoy all the different and mesmerizing shapes and shades the glacier creates.
After the cave we will make our way a bit further into the glacier to a viewpoint from which we are able to admire the calving front of the glacier.
Another 30 minutes of walking will bring us back to our boat that will get us back to Kulusuk. On the way back we will get another chance to look for more wildlife and take in the beautiful surroundings.
Evening: Flights to Iceland.
Overnight at a hotel in Keflavik. (Meals BL)
Day 8: Departure from Iceland

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy the morning in Keflavik on your own. Transfer on your own to the airport via taxi approximately $30 USD per car or continue on for an adventure in Iceland.

Do women travel solo or with friends?
I am a solo traveler. Do I get charged more for a single room?
Do I need any vaccinations or a medical form?
Do I need a passport?
All participants must have a passport valid for travel 6 months beyond the date of departure. US travelers can visit the U.S. State Department Website for the most current requirements. Most destinations require your passport to be valid 6 months beyond your planned departure date. Check your passport now to avoid last minute stress and hassle.
What happens after I sign up?
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! Pay a small deposit to secure your spot. Then, pay the balance in interest-free installments using a credit card or checking account. There is no bank transaction fees when you use your checking account. If you want the convenience of using a credit card, the bank will charge 3%. You can switch between two payment options at any time.
What is the cutoff date to confirm the trip?
The trip will need critical mass within 90 days of departure. In the unlikely event we don’t reach this minimum, a full refund will be issued.
Is airfare included in the price?
The package price covers group flight from Keflavik, Iceland (KEF) to Kulusuk, Greenland. Participants need to book their own flights to Iceland. We can offer guidance, and once we have confirmed the tour, we will provide travel parameters for booking your flight.
Are flight delays possible?
It is possible that your flight to Greenland or back to Iceland could be delayed or canceled due to inclement weather. For this reason, our team suggest that you arrive one night early to acclimate and to give yourself time in case of delays getting to Iceland.

We recommend you book your flight from USA to Iceland using Icelandair in case any leg of your journey is canceled or if you have lost or delayed luggage. If you have a restricted diet (such as gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, etc), we recommend bringing some of your preferred snacks.
